Christmas Day Happiness!

Christmas morning, I woke up with a terrible migraine!  I've been getting migraines the past two weeks (actually feels like it started when my nausea stopped).  But it got better as the day progressed, thank goodness!  We hosted Christmas at our home this year with all my family and let me tell you... it was one of the most fun Christmases I've ever had! From Ping Pong, to darts, to all the cookies and appetizers we had to snack on, we had smiles all around! My grandma made her famous cookies she makes every year, the guys did their thing joking around with each other and playing the" guy games" outside. My little sister, Heather,  who was sick as a dog for the past two days even made it out! That meant so much to me, knowing how awful she has felt the past few days. We opened gifts, and you better believe Coconut received some gifts!!! My parents bought Eric and I a crib and matching changing table for us.  They are absolutely beautiful and will look perfect in Coconuts room!!! Heather and Adam got our little beach baby a whale crib mobile, and Mo and Curtis got me a massage and facial! Oh lala!!!  We were made stockings (my mom made the girls' stockings and my dad made the guys'), and we definitely treated my parents this year!  We had cookies my mom had baked and her and I cooked dinner together for everyone.  We set up dinner sets to eat outside since it was such a beautiful evening... perfect weather for a California Christmas! Eric lit up our firepit and we ate dinner with an awesome "ambiance" :)  We decided to go with a non-traditional fun dinner this year and cook a tri tip! It came out so yummy! Eric must've ate 3 or 4 slices. I was only able to eat one since my stomach hasn't been a fan of meat all that much lately (so unlike me, I'm usually a huge meat and potatoes kinda girl!) We took Trixie down to the school before everyone came over, but she was really good with everyone anyways!
After dinner, we went over to my Aunt and Uncle's house in Mission Viejo for some dessert and cocktails. (Well, everyone else had cocktails- I had a bottle of water haha). We did a really fun white elephant gift exchange and Eric and I totally scored on that!  He ended up with the Fast & the Furious 6 movie, and Miley Cyrus' latest CD (that I'm totally gonna steal)   and i ended up with this really cool candle wine bottle stopper! We got to see my cousins and the little ones even put on a little show for us playing their violin! So cute!!! Everyone asked about Coconut, and it was really cool to talk about!  Everyone is so excited for us!!!
Coconut, we're so excited for you!!! Next Christmas will be your first Christmas out of my belly!!! Eeeeeeee!!!! <-- That's my excited noise haha
Thanks for reading and hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas as well!!! xoxo

1st and 2nd doctor appointments!

Ahhhh!!! I've so been lagging on this blog! I was sooooo tired my first trimester that besides going to work, playing with Trixie, and wondering when my next nap will be... all I wanted to do was sleep! I'm getting my energy back (at least I have way more energy now than I did before)!
I think it's been about 6 weeks that I haven't written and so much has happened! On January 3rd, Eric and I had our first doctor appointment. We got to see our baby for the first time. It was so cool to see arms flying everywhere and legs kicking up a storm! Eric even shed a tear he was so taken back. "That's our baby!!!"
After our appointment,  the doctor office called us back and made a follow up appointment for the following Tuesday.  I was a bit concerned that he wanted to see us again so quickly, especially with the placenta previa issue he had told us about that I had. Grandma and Grandpa Ortiz came with us to that next appointment.  They did the tummy ultrasound and drew the first part of labwork. My mom was soooo excited to see the baby and whew, Coconut really put on a show for her doing leg presses, putting it's hand so dramatically on top of it's forehead. It was pretty funny. The ultrasound tech was going to tell us the sex of the baby, but the umbilical cord was wrapped in between it's legs. Does this mean coconut is being stubborn already?  Haha oy vey!
Fast forward a few days Eric and I were getting impatient and really wanted to know if we were having a boy or a girl. I made an appointment with an ultrasound place that can determine the gender of our baby with 99% accuracy! I made the appointment for the very next day!!! So on tuesday the 7th... we found out... our baby Coconut is a GIRL!!! We wanted to keep it a secret and find out a surprise way to reveal it to my parents... stay tunes to hear how we did it!!! :)
